Lino Martinez Gets Honored by the CLS Athletics Department.
Senor Martinez is in his 50th year of coaching HS wrestling in Illinois and Wisconsin. He is in the Illinois High School Wrestling Hall of Fame for his work as a Coach at Mt. Pulaski HS, Lake Zurich HS, Stevenson HS, and Carmel Catholic HS. He is also a member of the Lake County Hall of Fame as a wrestling coach.
Senor was a significant part of the team of coaches that began the championship wrestling program at CLS in 2010-11. The CLS team under Senor’s leadership won 11 conference championships and 11 regional titles. While not coaching at CLS this season Senor has returned to Stevenson HS to coach his 50th season with his son Michael.
Senor was just honored in November at the Wisconsin Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of Fame banquet for having won 500 dual meets in his career.
Most importantly, Lino has been loved by all his students and athletes for over 50 years because of his relational style and ability to connect to all his learners.
