COVID-19 Update

CLS Community,

We want to give you an update on the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and share what CLS is doing in response. As you are probably aware, the situation is extremely fluid with new reports and changes every day and we are closely monitoring the situation here in Wisconsin and Illinois especially in relation to how it might impact our school community.

External Student Activities. At this point, in an effort to safeguard our students, we have decided to cancel all external student activities starting Wednesday, March 18th. This cancellation mainly covers class field trips and does not include spring sports practices. Spring sports and Sound of Music practices will go on as planned. We will continue to evaluate the Mexico missions trip, our spring sports programs, and our Fine Arts programs as the situation progresses and will keep participants up to date on any decisions. Our Open House event on Monday, March 16th will go on as scheduled, but all external student trips will be suspended.

Visitors To Our Facility. We will also be limiting visitor entrance into our facility during the day when students are present starting on Monday, March 16. If parents, family members, or visitors do not absolutely need to be in the building during the day, we ask that you please don’t come to the school. Deliveries and emergencies will be facilitated through the main office, so you can still drop off things for your student(s) there.

Potential School Closures. We are preparing for what could be an extended school closure implemented by the state or federal government. This closure would include classes and events for preschool, elementary, middle, and high school. Our teachers are making plans now and it is our goal to continue our education utilizing an online format through what could be an extended school closure. We ask that you begin to make preparations for your family in the event that such a situation becomes a reality. This includes checking your internet access, having an accessible computer for your student, having a printer, paper, and ink, and any other necessities your student might need to be able to work in an online format. As our teachers prepare for this potential situation, we will be in contact with more information.

Again, we ask you to employ the best practices for preventing the spread of illness with your student(s). First, if your student is sick, please have them stay home and get checked by your family physician. Continue to wash hands for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use hand sanitizer. Make sure to cough and sneeze into tissues or your elbow. If you cough or sneeze into a tissue, make sure to throw the tissue immediately into the trash. Avoid touching your mouth, nose, and/or eyes. This will help keep germs out of your body.

At CLS, we have purchased the latest technology for sanitizing our facility utilizing the Victory Innovations Electrostatic Back Sprayer. Our maintenance team sanitizes our facility regularly, including wiping down door handles, desks, switches, etc. to maintain a healthy and germ-free environment for our students.

We understand the potential inconveniences that might arise due to this virus and we ask for flexibility as we all work to keep our students healthy. As the situation changes, we will keep you up to date on our plan moving forward. If you have any questions, please feel free to call.

Thank You,
