Upper School Social Studies Teacher

Get to know Sue Haman, 7th and 8th-grade social studies teacher! Mrs. Haman has a passion for showing her students how the Lord has been present throughout all of history.

What classes and grade level(s) do you teach?

I teach 7th and 8th grade Social Studies.

What do you love most about CLS?

I love the Christian atmosphere at CLS. I love to be a part of teachers praying together for our students, and I love the relationships I have with my students.

Why do you like teaching at CLS?

It is a privilege to teach here at CLS. Every day I get to spend time discussing history, telling stories, challenging my students to think for themselves and help them to develop their organizational skills!

How are faith and learning integrated at CLS?

I don’t teach anything without incorporating a biblical worldview into it. There is no wisdom or knowledge apart from God. My students get a clear understanding of how God’s hand has moved throughout history and continues today.

How do you make a spiritual impact on your students?

Every class begins with prayer. We pray for a different country each week and issues going on in the world. My students hear of my personal walk with the Lord whenever it applies to what we are discussing. The Lord is relevant in all of my classes.

What is a unique experience, talent or interest that you bring to your classroom to help shape the learning experience of your students?

I dress in a colonial dress at least once a year and bring in colonial foods for my students to taste, to get a hands-on experience of history. They love seeing me step out of the day to day ordinary classroom activities.

What sets CLS students apart from other students?

CLS students have open hearts toward God, a will to learn, a great work ethic and make the best friends!!
