CLS Grad Writes Book About Gospel for Children
Kathryn Larrabee (Nelson), a 2007 graduate of Christian Life School (CLS), recently felt God placing the idea to write a book in her heart. With the help of a friend, Pam Uhl, the book titled The Shoestring Gospel came to fruition. Larrabee said that the idea was to use real-life situations to help explain the Gospel. “It isn’t necessarily hard to understand the Gospel, but sharing it can get complicated. This book is intended to be a tool.”
The Shoestring Gospel is described as a fun way to explain how God our Father has given us an incredible gift. The two sisters in the story are based on Larrabee’s two oldest daughters, Collins and Cassidy. “The interaction of the two girls is very much how my girls interact. My oldest is very confident in her answers and loves to share her knowledge about God. Cassidy is very curious and loves to learn. I am sure other kids can relate to those two personalities. The oldest sister in the story tells her own story about a gift she received from her dad and then she relates that to how we have all received a gift from our heavenly father.”
Larrabee’s prayer for this book is that children will be able to hear and understand their heavenly father a little more after reading this and come to accept Him as their savior. She went on to say that she also prays they will share the good news with others.
During her time at CLS, Larrabee shared that she loved her time at the school and is forever grateful for the sacrifices that her parents made to ensure she could attend. She has many friends and coaches who she still stays in touch will and was a three-sport athlete all four years of high school. Additionally, she believes that her time as a student at CLS allowed her to grow spiritually and answer God’s call on her life to ministry. She is currently an associate pastor of discipleship ordained by the Church of Nazarene. She is married to Andy for the past 10 years and they have four children: Collins, Cassidy, Kinsley, and Mattax.
