CLS Announces New Varsity Boys Basketball Coach

June 13, 2018– Christian Life School is pleased to announce the hiring of Sean Smith as the new Varsity Boys Basketball Coach. In addition to his coaching role, Coach Smith will also serve as a teacher in the Physical Education Department.   

Coach Smith joins the Eagles after serving as the Youth Pastor at Grace Community Church in Charlottesville, VA. He was also the Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach at Orange County Public High School were he helped lead the Hornets to their first winning season in 8 years.

Coach Smith, a Chicago native, graduated from Trinity International University where he was a member of the Varsity team from 2013-2017. Sean was part of a freshman class that won 5 games. With a change in coach and culture, they won 30  games his senior year and made it to the Elite Eight of the NAIA National Tournament.

According to Coach Boomer Roberts “Sean was a major reason the team was able to turn around so quickly.” As a two-time captain at TIU, Roberts accredited the team’s success to Sean’s willingness to do whatever it took for the team.

Coach Smith is looking forward to building and pouring into his guys on and off the basketball court. He is excited about competing and looks forward to building a winning program and culture here at CLS.
