A Historic Weekend for CLS Athletics
This past weekend was one for the record books at Kenosha Christian Life School, as multiple teams and athletes achieved remarkable milestones. From cheerleading to basketball and wrestling, CLS athletics showcased talent, dedication, and perseverance.
Athletic Achievements Across CLS
The 7th-8th grade boys’ basketball team secured a championship victory, demonstrating their hard work and teamwork throughout the season. Their achievement adds to the growing legacy of excellence in CLS sports.

In wrestling, Senior Javier Gomez Atilano earned a spot at the state wrestling tournament after an outstanding performance on Saturday. He will compete in Madison on Thursday, representing CLS with pride and determination. This is a huge accomplishment. As he prepares for the competition, the entire school stands behind him. Congratulations to Javier and Coach Matt Gee on this exciting opportunity.
Varsity Cheer Team Makes School History
Meanwhile, the CLS Varsity Cheer Team made school history by becoming the first team to place 1st at the state level since the school’s founding in 1977. Competing at the WACPC State Varsity Cheer Finals, the coed team of 17 girls and 6 boys brought home multiple awards:
- 1st Place – State Champions in Gameday Coed Large
- 2nd Place – State Runner-Up in Coed Large Traditional
- 3rd Place – Coed Partner Stunt (Steven Palmer, Kaylen Jackson, Rowan Eide)
- 4th Place – Coed Partner Stunt (Bradley Palmer, Jada Cowan, Pierce Eide)
The team, led by head coach Leslie Stanley and assistant coaches Alyssa Simmons and Ben Meekma (both CLS alumni and former cheerleaders), demonstrated incredible skill and perseverance. Because of their dedication, they achieved something truly historic. Their hard work paid off, making this a significant moment for CLS
A Season to Remember
Overall, this past weekend highlighted the strength and determination of CLS athletes across multiple sports. Not only did the varsity cheer team make history, but the middle school basketball team and Javier also achieved great success. With so many accomplishments, CLS athletes continue to inspire the entire school community. Congratulations to all athletes and coaches for their dedication and success.
