What classes and grade level(s) do you teach?
I teach 8th-grade language arts.
What do you love most about CLS?
I love that CLS has a Christ-centered community that is intent on building one another up.
Why do you like teaching at CLS?
The CLS students are fantastic — so eager to learn and grow! This helps make each day of teaching a joy.
How are faith and learning integrated at CLS?
Each teacher is passionate about not only teaching the material that they love, but also teaching students how to filter through each content area from a Biblical standpoint.
How do you make a spiritual impact on your students?
I rely on the Holy Spirit each day to fill me up so that I can pour out His love, encouragement, grace, and kindness upon all of my students. During class hours, I do not hesitate to discuss God, truth, and the scriptures as they relate to our lives as well as the course material. As students see and hear about the way that my life is impacted and changed by Jesus, it is not uncommon for them to seek me out for prayer needs and encouragement.
What is a unique experience, talent or interest that you bring to your classroom to help shape the learning experience of your students?
I previously toured with a band as their children’s nanny and teacher. We traveled all over the country and the world, and in the midst of it all, I was homeschooling. I learned to be very flexible and creative with our time and resources. Yet it also provided unique learning opportunities for the kids to learn about geography, history, and literature while we experienced it first hand, sitting in the very country which we were studying. Through this, I learned the incredible value of engaging students with course content in meaningful ways — teaching them how to make personal connections that deepen and solidify their learning.
What sets CLS students apart from other students?
They are eager learners and encouragers!
