Varsity Cheer Takes 2nd in State

This weekend, the CLS Varsity Cheer Squad finished 2nd at the State Tournament in Madison. CLS was competing against much larger schools, so to earn that place was quite an honor. The squad received a score of 83.6, even better than the excellent performance given at the Regional Tournament. This was the highest recorded finish for the program and was also the first state runner-up finish for any CLS athletics team since 1998.

Coach Leslie Stanley is extremely impressed with this squad. The season has been one characterized by trials, which made this competition’s success even sweeter. Multiple injuries and illnesses occurred immediately before competitions, causing the team to have to constantly rework routines and demonstrate perseverance. However, when presented with each obstacle, Coach Stanely noted that the squad’s first reaction was to gather in prayer. They continued to trust in the Lord and build up their teammates.

The Varsity Cheer Squad has made CLS proud! Congratulations to the entire team on their achievements this year, especially at the State Tournament.
